St. Joseph was an Incredible Man - Fr. Donald Calloway →

March 20, 2021 Jonathan Cyr

For a guy who doesn’t say anything in the Bible, St. Joseph was an incredible man. He’s someone all men can call upon to help them live with purity and virtue.

Joseph’s dreams for a happy marriage and family appeared to be fading fast. A faithful Jew and “righteous man” (Matthew 1:19), he knew Jewish law required him to uphold the sanctity of marriage, which appeared to be violated by Mary’s pregnancy. But he also wanted to protect Mary.

St. Joseph: Model of Holiness →

March 17, 2021 Jonathan Cyr
CE - St. Joseph Holiness 2021-03-17.jpg

Intriguing, hidden, and silent, St. Joseph’s role in salvific history has been analyzed and philosophized for millennia. Also known as Terror of Demons, Light of Patriarchs, and Mirror of Patience, St. Joseph remains a powerful intercessor for many. Often invoked by those desperate to find gainful employment or patrons who find it impossible to sell their homes, St. Joseph can be much more for us—a friend, a mentor.

Men Need St. Joseph →

March 10, 2021 Jonathan Cyr
CE - Men Need St. Joseph 2021-03-10.jpg

After decades of attacks on men and masculinity, the Church has declared a Year of St. Joseph. A year to celebrate a man, the holiest of men, who was the earthly father of Our Savior, Jesus Christ, and the husband of the most perfect woman to ever live, Our Blessed Mother. The Holy Spirit is guiding the Church through the stormy seas of our present age, and Our Lord has asked us to turn to his foster-father as a guide. This is especially true of men. Now is the time to reclaim authentic masculinity.

God's Presence in Suffering →

March 6, 2021 Jonathan Cyr

This week, Fr. Mark Toups meditates on the Transfiguration, and how God journeys with us even in the midst of suffering. Suffering is a natural part of life, and each individual’s suffering is completely unique to the person next to them. The evil one likes to tell us that we’re alone during these trials, but the reality is that the Lord is perhaps even closer to us in our suffering than he is to us in good times. We have never been alone: all we have to do is let God in and trust in his glory.

Looking at the joyful mysteries can reveal a large part of the saint’s heart, humility, and strength, as it lays out the beginning of his relationship with Mary and the coming birth of Christ.
